In December 2023, East Bay EDA partner Lawrence Livermore National Lab (LLNL) releases a first-of-its-kind report, “Roads to Removal: Options for Carbon Dioxide Removal in the United States,” which charts a path for the United States to achieve a net-zero greenhouse gas (GHG) economy by 2050, helping to ensure the nation’s climate security and resilience by cleaning up Earth’s atmosphere and addressing the root cause of climate change.

This report provides a “snapshot” overview of industrial activity in the East Bay over the past ten years. The results indicate that the East Bay has robust job growth in key industry groups that utilize land and buildings in areas with industrial-related zoning. Port of Oakland Economic Impact Report
According to an economic impact report released in September 2023, the Port of Oakland generates 98,345 local jobs and $174 billion in overall economic value. As the second largest job generator in Oakland and the fifth largest job generator in the region, the Port remains a critical source of economic opportunity and jobs in Northern California.
