Congratulations to the Startup World Cup East Bay Regional Winners!
The East Bay Regional competition drew an impressive 140 applications from startups across Northern California. On September 10, the top 10 finalists took the stage at California State University, East Bay to deliver their pitch presentations. A stellar lineup of judges representing investors, executives, and innovators awarded the top honor to San Leandro-based Coreshell Technologies, recognized as a 2025 East Bay Innovation Awardee. Coreshell will be representing the East Bay at the Global Grand Finale for a shot at the $1 Million Investment Prize on October 17, 2025, in San Francisco. Cache DNA was awarded second place, and Nanowear (Berkeley) and Hadron Energy (Redwood City) tied for third place.
Community College Spotlight: College of Alameda’s New Transportation Technology Center
The College of Alameda celebrated the grand opening of its Transportation Technology Center (NTTC), a hub for its Automotive Technology, Autobody & Paint, and Diesel Technology programs, offering hands-on training for careers in transportation and logistics. The building is a result of voter-approved Measure G funding and is intended to replace older facilities, providing modern equipment and a centralized location for these CTE programs.

California Air Resources Board Offers Clean Off-Road Equipment Vouchers
The California Air Resources Board (CARB) is now accepting voucher applications for the purchase of heavy-duty off-road equipment. The Clean Off-Road Equipment Voucher Incentive Project (CORE) is an incentive project that encourages California off-road equipment users to purchase or lease commercially available zero-emission off-road equipment. SBA Waives Loan Fees for Small Manufacturers in Fiscal Year 2026
The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) recently announced that it would waive most upfront fees for small manufacturers in fiscal year 2026. For 7(a) manufacturing loans of up to $950,000, the upfront fee will be 0%. For all 504 manufacturing loans, the upfront fee and annual service fee will each be 0%. These new fee structures will be effective from October 1, 2025, through September 30, 2026. Learn more and connect with an SBA lender. SBA Announces Revolving Credit Loan Program
The 7(a) Manufacturers’ Access to Revolving Credit (MARC) Loan Program will offer working capital for small businesses engaged in manufacturing (NAICS 31-33), specifically designed to provide maximum flexibility and minimal red tape. Learn more.
