East Bay EDA Launches New Website for Manufacturers

On October 18, 2023, East Bay EDA unveiled its new Resilient East Bay website, designed as a resource to support the region’s manufacturing sector and related industries spanning 3,500 businesses, 150,000 jobs, and contributing over $40.7 billion in GRP. The new website was unveiled at East Bay EDA’s Annual Membership meeting at Hacienda Business Park in Pleasanton and was attended by business, community, and elected East Bay leaders. The event itself featured keynote remarks from Port of Oakland Executive Director Danny Wan and included a panel of commercial real estate professionals and a representative from PG&E talking about critical facilities, land use, and zoning issues. Building Efficiency Accelerator Offers Savings for Alameda County Businesses
Ava Community Energy, the public power provider for Alameda County, has recently launched its new Building Efficiency Accelerator to help businesses reduce overhead costs and prepare for California’s carbon reporting requirements. This ratepayer-funded program offers up to 24 months of engineering support from energy efficiency experts at Cascade Energy to boost savings and offers generous incentives for capital and low- or no-cost projects. Participating business will have access to the Energy Sensei software tool to model energy use, track when projects are completed, and visualize the resulting energy and carbon savings. Port of Oakland Generates Nearly 100,000 Local Jobs

The Port of Oakland recently released a new economic impact report highlighting the scale and scope of the Port’s impact on the Northern California economy. According to the analysis conducted by Martin Associates, the overall economic value of the port was calculated to be $174 billion, including business revenue, consumer spending, and the total value of goods and services. The study revealed increased economic opportunities across its three main areas of operation: Oakland International Airportcommercial real estate, and the seaport.
