Making the 2024 East Bay Innovation Awards Trophies

Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony – now add the East Bay Innovation Awards to the list. When the event organizer, East Bay Economic Development Alliance (East Bay EDA), sought a locally-made trophy that embodied the spirit of excellence, they turned to Laney College’s Machine Technology Program for a solution. Funding Opportunities


American-Made Challenges – The DOE recently launched a series of prize competitions, in partnership with the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), that are designed to incentivize the nation’s entrepreneurs to reenergize innovation and reassert American leadership in the energy marketplace. Up for a challenge? Learn more.

Pollution Prevention Grants – The EPA announced a funding opportunity for pollution prevention grants, with half of available funds requiring no cost share or match requirement for projects that manage waste and avert or remove emissions and harmful chemicals from the environment. Applications are due May 17. 

Emissions Reduction – The Bay Area Air Quality District’s Carl Moyer Program is offering incentive grants to eligible businesses that are seeking upgrades or replacement of off-road equipment. Applications are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Email Itsel Guzman, Staff Specialist, iguzman@baaqmd.gov for a preliminary analysis on eligibility.
